Yuushi Inaba is set to go beyond the adventure horizon in the next installment of the supernatural Japanese animated series, “Elegant Yokai Apartment Life”. And how he does it seems to be the result of something Kottou-ya, also known as the Antiquarian, is about to do.

The preview for the episode titled “This Isn’t a Manga” teases the return of the traveling antique store, Antiquary, with a bizarre old artifact – or two – for sale. But while his business hasn’t hurt anyone, the fancy lamp he brings to the Kotobuki-so is about to take residents on an adventure they don’t seem to have signed up for.

Yuushi’s best friend, Hase Mizuki, who literally lived in the yokai apartments, also gets picked up for the ride. But what is this new land they’re about to see, and what kind of fantasy-inspired adventures are they about to embark on?

The preview also teases a battle between Antiquary and what appears to be a longtime rival, which will eventually force the yokai businessman to finally remove his eye patch, much to the surprise of residents.

What kind of power could a harmless-looking guy like Antiquary be hiding behind this mysterious eye patch?

On the other hand, the previous episode featured Yuushi’s unsuccessful attempt to have a decent conversation with Konatsu Yamamoto, who he realized was exactly like the old one. However, despite Konatsu’s apparent reluctance to return to the English Conversation Club, she was shown at the end of the episode standing outside the club room.

The club has just decided what to do for the next Culture Festival, unknowingly upsetting Konatsu, who seemed to have spent all night working on a written proposal.

Will Yuushi still manage to make a connection with Konatsu’s golden heart after this incident? And could there really be a karmic connection between Aoki being their English teacher and Konatsu choosing to join the English Conversation Club?

“Elegant Yokai Apartment Life” airs Mondays at 11 p.m. JST on Tokyo MX and late at night at 1:59 a.m. JST on Yomiuri TV. It also airs Tuesdays late at night at 1:30 a.m. JST on BS11.
